Vastu shastra is an early Hindu practice to build home in harmony with natural forces or energies for happiness and comfort of people. Vastu means the dwelling of humans and Gods as different directions and sectors are allocated to different Gods and Keepers. Vastu shastra is a result-oriented science and gives positive and instant results if applied properly. It states the amounts and details of building elongation, slopes, water tanks, kitchen, bedrooms, stairs, heights of roofs, entrances, doors, windows, walls etc.
THE CORRECT PLACEMENT OF ROOMS
BEDROOM-Adult bedroom should be in Southwest direction. South  is also an  amiable direction for comfortable living. Build master bedroom on the upper storey, if any, in the Southwest portion of the house only.
SLEEPING POSTURE-Avoid sleep keeping head towards the North Pole and legs towards the South Pole. Your legs should be towards the West and head towards the East for mental peace, good thoughts and spirituality. 
KIDS ROOM – Children’s room should be towards the northwest or West Side only. If possible make a separate study close to their bedrooms.
 STUDY ROOM - Children should face the North or the East or the Northeast while studying for excellent more. So the best locations for study room are the north, east, or northeast. These directions draw the positive effects of Mercury increasing brain power, Jupiter increasing wisdom, Sun increasing ambition and Venus helps in bringing about creativity in new thoughts and ideas.  Always keep the books in the Southwest side of the room. The door of study room should be on the East or the North, or the Northeast
KITCHEN -The position of kitchen has health associations and very important part of our home. Ruling deity of the Southeast is Agni, the God of fire; therefore it may be located at the southeast corner of the house.  
             DINING ROOM - The dining room should be positioned in the East or the West or the North near the kitchen. Northwest corner is good for consumable goods. So dining room should be in the Northwest direction, which leads to quicker consumption of food.   
BATHROOMS - Attached bathroom should be in the North, or the East of a bedroom. Place shower, bathing tub and wash basin in the Northeast, or the North or the East direction in the bathroom. Always take bath in the North or the East area in the bathroom. Bathroom should never be constructed in the centre or in the southwest corner of the house.
STORE ROOM - Storeroom should be placed in the Northwest or Southwest portion of the house. It is very beneficial if grains and other provisions are stored in the Northwest store. All heavy things may be stored in the Southwest of the storeroom. Keep garbage in the Southern side portion of the house.
DRAWING ROOM– Drawing room should be placed. in the Northeast or the North or the East but not in the Southwest portion of the house. More empty space should be given in the Northeast corner of the drawing room. Door should be placed on the East towards the Northeast side.
HEIGHT of the building should be even to get the most beneficial results. There must be consistency among projections or elevations.
FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO BRING POSITIVE ENERGY IN HOME
If you do not get proper sunlight, open all the windows situated in north and east direction at least for 3 hours for the positive energy.
Light a diya of pure ghee in your shrine regularly.
Clean your home shrine regularly.
Always keep clean the northeast corner of your home.
Do not let the water flows from the taps of toilets as it is just like flowing money from your home.
Main door should always be lighted.
Do not place a T.V. set, any water feature or plants in the bed room.
Do not use separate mattresses and bed-sheet.
Keep the furniture to from a square or a circle or an octagon in.
Always keep the corners brighten.
Hang a picture of bright sunrise on southern wall in living room.
Allow the wind come from south-west in the bed room.
Avoid making dining-room to the front door of your house.
Never hang mirror in kitchen.
Do not expose broom and mops in open and do not allow any body to touch it again and again.
Always keep the bathroom and toilet door closed as much as you can.
Keep the windows open outer side.
Avoid planting prickly cactus, plants in the home.
Have an aquarium in the south-east corner in living room.
    Hang a happy family picture in living room.
Do not plant very high trees like Banyan, Pipal or any thorny trees in front of your home.
Make sure that entrance gate or lift of your society should not be in front of the main gate of the home.
The house should be fully airy and has enough water resource.
You are advised to never store stale food, withered flowers, torn clothes, waste paper, waste materials, empty tins, old jars and useless things in your home as it stops wealth to come into your home.
Please do not keep old leather shoes in your home if there is marble flooring.
Marble is considered to be holy stone. If possible avoid marble in bedroom and toilets.
Make your shrine in an open space. Use marble in the worship room.
Keep your home always clean and always light incense sticks in your shrine morning and evening.
